Default Re: WCW 2002: The Return

WRESTLING NEWS:

On the WWF front, officials have confirmed that Edge, Christian, Chris Jericho, Kurt Angle, Matt Hardy, Jeff Hardy, and Test have all had their contracts come up without renewal. WCW has indeed spoke with at least one superstar from the list about coming over, but nobody can confirm if anyone has signed a new deal with WWF yet.

As Wrestlemania X8 comes closer, the feeling backstage is that WWF may sign Chris Benoit and Triple H as the main event for the WWF Championship. Chris Benoit defending the championship in his home country may help sell the pay-per-view for WWF.

WCW is looking at capitalizing on the Toronto crowd before WWF gets there with Superbrawl happening 1 month prior. The idea is that WCW is offering a more affordable super show with a stacked card as compared to WWF's Wrestlemania. Backstage officials are working hard to make WCW Superbrawl a Wrestlemania feel show with a stacked pay-per-view card and celebrity appearances.

As of right now, the Air Canada Centre in Toronto is 75% sold out for the show. WCW will be incorporating a fan festival into their Superbrawl Weekend where wrestlers can meet with fans and more activities can happen to promote the show.
