First one was awesome. I bought an xbox console for that game alone. Spent many a day playing multiplayer with friends and shit. Good times.
Then the second one came out and... it just didn't seem as good. I never even finished the story. Multiplayer seemed... dull this time around. Haven't played a Halo game since.
