Default WCW 2002: The Return

March 26, 2001 is the night that change professional wrestling. World Championship Wrestling aired for the last time on TNT. Reality proves that WWF and Vince McMahon purchased the company from AOL Time Warner. This BTB however takes WCW and puts it in the hands of WCW's president Eric Bischoff, who was set up to purchase the company prior to the sale to WWF.

In a press conference held in April 2001, Eric Bischoff announced that WCW will be taking a hiatus from television as they look towards a new programming deal. In the meantime, the company will be focusing on doing live events and growing markets in key area including specific states, Ontario, Quebec, Alberta, and Europe.

WCW achieved new success in their live tours and managed to put on a number of new shows with a very limited roster. The company ended up gaining momentum with television and marketing and by November 2001, Eric Bischoff announced that WCW will be returning with Monday Nitro on January 7, 2002. A partnership between WCW,HBO in the States, and TSN in Canada was made to air Nitro live across North America. The company also found partners with cable companies in the UK, Germany, Mexico, and Australia.
