Default Re: Music type/preference generalization

I like to think I have a diverse musical palette. It ranges from R&B in the 60s70s, to the mainstream pop artists like Beyonce, Kesha, and Lady Gaga, while also including some orchestral pieces as well as heavy metal bands such as Pink Floyd and Megadeth. I find a lot of things to pleasing to my ears.

As far as stereotypes are concerned, there was a few dudes in my Calculus class last year in high school who poked fun at some random student because he listened to Lady Gaga. That same week, we conversed about our favorite singers and bands. I let it be known that I was a passionate Lady Gaga fan, to one response, "You're gay, though. It's okay for you to listen to Lady Gaga." I let that one slide since he was a friend of mine, but it nonetheless irritated me.
