I tend to drink too much in social situations because I'm so socially awkward around people that alcohol is the only way to even come out of my shell a little bit, I simply lack the social skills required to stand and hold a conversation with someone sober. I also find parties and bars quite boring unless I'm too drunk to know what's going on, of course there are side effects but I drink rarely enough that it becomes a problem.
Pol93, how thought provoking of you.
I actually drink alot of alcohol. But, hey, give me a break! I'm a child of divorce.
I can understand that, but do you feel that the more you've drank alcohol, the more dependant you've became to use it to help get you through? In which case, going through an initial difficult time of giving up using alcohol may be more benficial in the long-term.
