I agree OP, these people, especially Americans have been conditioned and mentally manufactured into believing that they should be "proud" by the older more primitive generations, unfortunately, people like Gen Xers like CMWit, I am assuming, have not done anything to break away from this primitive, illogical mindset.
There is nothing logical about having pride for a country. This has only brought superiority complexes, hatred, murder, discrimination etc. Even wars.

Having pride in where you come from is not the same as feeling superior to others nor does it lead to hatred, murders, discrimination etc. I'm not sure how you came to this ridiculous conclusion.
OP already admits in his opening post that he doesn't like where he lives and wishes he lived somewhere else, so he chooses to justify his miserable mindset by taking this stance.
He doesn't understand people who take pride in their heritage because he's ashamed of his, I actually feel sorry for him.
