Re: Gay Veteran talks to Mitt Romney
The military is not a place where you run tests on social norms. It's far too serious for that.
I pretty much agree with everything this guy has to say, and I'm leaving this thread. Most of you are incapable of discussing the matter because you are too politically correct, extremely invasive of others views to the point where you incapable of having a discussion without throwing out blanket statements like "stupid" or "in the closet" or likely have never served a single day in any type of combat branch, rendering your opinion on what should happen invalid.
You're right in that the military is no place to run tests on social norms. However, homosexuality shouldn't even be an issue when compared to just about every other aspect of combat. You are homophobic because you are uncomfortable around gay men, they "sexually disgust" you, you don't want to afford homosexuals serving in the military the same benefits as heterosexuals in the military and you paint all gay men to be sexually aroused at the drop of a pin just by being in close quarters with another man. Do you get sexually aroused around any and all women? If so, you need a medical evaluation (both physical and psychological) It's quite pathetic, you hide behind the "YOU HAVEN'T BEEN THERE!" line while accusing others of being incapable of discussion.
"Everything anybody ever valued or struggled for... it's all a monstrous, demented gag! So why can't you see the funny side? Why aren't you laughing?"
