re: TV SHOW discussion thread (NO FUCKING SPOILERS please)
Caught the first series of Sherlock yesterday.
The first episode is in my top 5 of TV episodes ever, i loved it that much. The writing was exquisite, the camerawork was top notch and the TRANSITIONS. Oh my the screen transitions were beautiful, little things like that really improved the overall quality of the show. Of course the characters were brilliant, Sherlock & Watson have good chemistry on screen but it's subtle, not over the top friendship which feels fake and materialized.
The second episode was directed by someone different, cannot remember who atm but as soon as the credits rolled at the beginning i knew it was different and something was wrong. The camera work was okay but the writing was shoddy and really lazy (which continued in episode 3). The story of the 2nd one was poor to say the least (in comparison to the first).
Now the third episode was better but still wasn't the marvel i'd been told by family and friends it was. The story was okay but the writing again was so lazy. Whoever the killer was it was obvious because it was always the elephant in the room in the scene. (The houseboy, the brother in law) were both the late appearing character in the scene, which really dented my love for the episode. The cliffhanger at the end was kind of exciting but jesus the music was a bit of an overkill. (something which i could not say for the rest of the episodes, the soundtrack in this is fantastic)
