That looks cool but I'm assuming Nolan made the choice he made with the mask because he wanted part of Bane's face to be seen. Bane's mask in the film kind of opposes Batman's too where Bane's covers his mouth and reveals the eye area while Batman's covers most of his face with his mouth open.
