Re: i$e's Magical Music Megapost
FUCK IT. I need to catch up to speed on this year, and I want this list to end all other fucking lists, so here we go. Mostly new stuff.
1. State Faults - Desolate Peaks // Genre : Emo // Year : 2012
My favourite emo release of the year so far (my other is also in this list). Absolutely awesome variety, pretty accessible for an emo album and has some of the best vocals in the scene right now. Check it out if you want energetic but heartfelt shit. Really, really good.
2. If These Trees Could Talk - Red Forest // Genre : Post-Rock // Year : 2012
One of this years best post-rock releases. It's nothing you haven't heard before in terms of structure, but it has enough nuances to push it through onto the list. If you're a fan of the genre and want something to tide you over before Ancients drop their LP, then this is probably it.
3. The Tallest Man on Earth - There's No Leaving Now // Genre : Folk // Year : 2012
Best folk of the year until Tigers on Trains drop their new album in a few weeks. The Swedish Dylan pulls off the difficult third album with aplomb, easily keeping pace with his previous two releases. Dude has the ability to make a man cry, and turn gay. 1904 is right up there with my favourite tracks of the year too.
4. Allegaeon - Formshifter // Genre : Progressive Metal // Year : 2012
Dope experimental metal album. If you like Between the Buried and Me (or any other good technical metal band) then you'll like this. Awesome instrumentation and vocals with more range than a heat seeking missile.
5. Wintersleep - Untitled // Genre : Indie // Year : 2005
I've been meaning to throw this on the list for an absolute age, but I kept forgetting. I'll add it now before I forget again because it's one of my favourite indie albums ever. It has the downbeat nature of The Antlers, the melodic structure of The Wrens and the heart-wrenching vocals of Frightened Rabbit. Please listen.
6. Clubroot - III MMXII // Genre : Electronica // Year : 2012
Yes motherfucker. An album for the audiophiles and for those who like electronic music with a twist. Dark like Swarms, but with a touch more variety in the drum instrumentation. This comes highly recommended.
That'll do for this time, but I got a shit ton more.
Lemme know if anyone wants me to focus on a specific genre and I'll do my best to dig out some really underground stuff.
