Default Re: WWE: The TwoThousandAndEleven Diaries

Friday Night Smackdown (July 29, 2011)

The show starts off with Theodore Long on the stage and the GM says that he is proud to announce a tournament to crown new World Tag Team Champions to occur over the next three weeks and conclude with the final at Summerslam. He also says that tonight Justin Gabriel will be challenging Ezekiel Jackson for the Intercontinental Championship. Cody Rhodes and Ted DiBiase interrupt Teddy and say that more importantly he should be announcing Cody versus Christian for Summerslam because tonight Ted DiBiase is going to beat The World Heavyweight Champion in the main event.

Match One: Y0UTH (Trent Barreta and Derrick Bateman) defeats the team of Heath Slater and Darren Young after Barreta hits Young with the Dudebuster DDT, meaning Y0UTH progress in the tag title tournament.

We go backstage to an interview with Randy Orton and interviewer Jack Korpela asks him why he hit Chris Jericho with an RKO last week. Orton says that he was pissed about losing his chance to win the World Heavyweight Championship and he had to take it out on somebody. Christian was out of the equation so he figured he would go for one of the champís best friends and former partners in Jericho. He says itís nothing personal and smirks before walking off.

Match Two: Beth Phoenix and Roxxi defeat Alicia Fox and Tamina after Roxxi hits Alicia with the Inverted Front Powerslam she calls the Barbie Crusher. After the match the referee raises the winning teamís hands but Roxxi pulls herself away and walks away without looking back.

Justin Gabriel and Matt Striker come out for a promo and Striker says that everyone is about to witness history, as Gabriel is about to become the Intercontinental Champion. They talk themselves up some more before Ezekiel Jackson makes his way out and says that nothing is changing- nobody is going to tame the beast and the title will stay in his possession.

Match Three: The Intercontinental Championship match turns into a no contest after Wade Barrett runs out and attacks both Justin Gabriel and Ezekiel Jackson, laying them both out with The Wasteland before posing over them in the ring with his MITB briefcase in his arms.

Michael Hayes makes his way down to the ring and introduces The Hart Dynasty as Tyson Kidd and David Hart Smith then make their entrance to heat. Hayes says that they will restore glory to the Hart name and capture the World Tag Team Championships on Smackdown.

Match Four: The Hart Dynasty defeats The Usos in a match that went back and forth after hitting Jimmy with The Hart Attack, advancing further into the World Tag Team Championship tournament.

We go backstage to Chris Jericho who is there for an interview with Jack Korpela. He says that he doesnít buy into the Ďnothing personalí remarks that Randy Orton made earlier today and that he knows why Orton attacked him- he was on a roll winning two straight matches against Sheamus and Orton was down in the dumps with no World Heavyweight Championship. Jericho says that Orton wants a fight and he has found one.

Main Event: Ted DiBiase defeats Christian after the referee gets knocked out halfway through the match and Rhodes uses the opportunity to illegally hit Christian with a steel chair shot to the skull. When the referee covers DiBiase pins Christian for the win and the crowd boos, as Christian vs. Cody Rhodes for the World Heavyweight Championship is now official for Summerslam.
