Re: WWE: The TwoThousandAndEleven Diaries

Friday Night Smackdown (July 22, 2011)

We open the show with World Heavyweight Champion Christian who says that he defied the odds to beat Christian and Randy Orton and defend his title last Sunday. He praises his fans but Cody Rhodes cuts him off mid-way through his promo. Cody makes his way to the ring with Ted DiBiase and says that he wants a title match because he wasn’t pinned last Sunday and therefore deserves one. The two trade words before Theodore Long comes out and says that Cody won’t get title shots handed to him on a silver platter- he will need to earn them. He says that Rhodes can take a step in the right direction tonight because he and DiBiase will be taking on Daniel Bryan and Sin Cara in the main event!

Match One: Tyson Kidd, accompanied by Michael Hayes, defeats Johnny Curtis in a squash match after making him tap to the Sharpshooter. After the match Hayes gets on the mic and introduces Kidd’s new tag team partner, David Hart Smith! Smith walks down to the ring and poses with Kidd as Hayes introduces them as the next World Tag Team Champions.

We go backstage to Jack Korpela who has an interview with Sheamus, who says that later tonight he has a no-disqualifications no-countouts match against Chris Jericho and unlike last Sunday at Money In The Bank, this time he will be the victor and Jericho will feel his wrath.

Match Two: Beth Phoenix defeats Michelle McCool after the Glam Slam with Melina at ringside and after the match The Divas Champion attacks Beth and soon Michelle McCool joins in and it’s a 2 on 1 attack. Roxxi’s music hits and she walks out onto the stage and stands there for a while before ultimately running down to the ring to make the save and help Beth to her feet.

We go backstage to an interview with Cody and Ted who say that tonight they will defeat Daniel Bryan and Sin Cara and then it will be a travesty if GM Teddy Long doesn’t announce Cody Rhodes vs. Christian for Summerslam. Ted DiBiase goes to say some words but Cody cuts him off and says that this coming month is all about him.

Match Three: Chris Jericho defeats Sheamus in a brutal No-DQ/No-Countout match after a chair shot and then making “The Celtic Warrior” submit to the Walls of Jericho. After the match Jericho celebrates after struggling to get to his feet but all of a sudden Randy Orton runs in out of nowhere and hits Jericho with an RKO, before “The Viper” slithers off to boos.

Justin Gabriel comes out with Matt Striker and Striker says that Gabriel will be the next Intercontinental Champion and that Jackson has no chance whatsoever in keeping his title. Wade Barrett comes out and says that he is the holder of a Money In The Bank briefcase and is therefore above tagging with a loser by the likes of Gabriel. He says to get on with the demolition of their opponents.

Match Four: Justin Gabriel and Wade Barrett defeat Ezekiel Jackson and Shelton Benjamin after Striker distracts the faces and Barrett hits Shelton with The Wasteland. After the match he lays out Jackson but then Gabriel attacks Barrett and his respective 450° Splashes on Barrett and Ezekiel.

We go back to an interview with Derrick Bateman and Trent Barreta who say that they will be the new World Tag Team Champions once the titles are introduced back to Smackdown. The Punjab Parallel of The Great Khali, Jinder Mahal and Ranjin Singh walk up to them and the two tag teams have a silent stare down.

Main Event: Cody Rhodes and Ted DiBiase defeat Daniel Bryan and Sin Cara after Cody threw DiBiase into Bryan and then hit him with the Cross Rhodes. He gets on the microphone after the match demanding Christian/Cody Rhodes be made for Summerslam but Teddy Long comes out and says that he will get the match if next week Christian is defeated by Ted DiBiase!
