Re: WWE: The TwoThousandAndEleven Diaries

Monday Night Raw (July 18, 2011)

We open the show with new WWE Champion CM Punk and The Straight Edge Society, also consisting of United States Champion Mason Ryan and WWE Tag Team Champions Joseph Mercury and Seth Rollins. They brag to the audience about holding all the titles on Raw and preach their lifestyle until General Manager Jerry Lawler comes out and says that to liven up Raw he is going to have each member of The SES defend their titles tonight! The crowd pops as he says that right now Mercury and Rollins will defend the tag titles against Evan Bourne and Rey Mysterio and in the main event CM Punk will defend his WWE Championship against Jack Swagger.

Match One: Evan Bourne and Rey Mysterio defeat Joseph Mercury and Seth Rollins by countout after The SES bails mid-way through the match, therefore the titles don’t change hands.

We go to Scott Stanford and an interview with former WWE Champion John Cena. He says that he’s interested to see who wins the big title match in tonight’s main event and that whoever wins should watch out because he still has a rematch clause to cash in. He says he secretly hopes that Punk retains his title so he can personally get revenge on The Straight Edge Society and win back the WWE Championship that is rightfully his.

Match Two: Natalya defeats Maryse in a squash match with the Sharpshooter. After the match Kharma comes out and The Women’s Champion has a staredown with Natalya, the reigning #1 Contender.

We go backstage to Kofi Kingston pleading to Jerry Lawler to give him a US Title match against Mason Ryan tonight. The GM obliges but says that this is Kofi’s last chance and if he loses he will be suspended from Raw for 30 days and Kofi agrees to this clause, determined to retain his title.

Match Three: Drew McIntyre defeats Primo after an eye poke and the Future Shock DDT. After the match Carlito gets into the ring to have words with McIntyre about the dirty finish but the Scot simply smiles as Paul Burchill and Finlay make their way to the ring and align with Drew in beating up The Colons. The three pose to end the segment as the crowd boos.

John Morrison comes down to the ring with his Money In The Bank briefcase and he thanks the fans for supporting him and being the motivation he needed to win the match last night. He says he doesn’t know when he is cashing in and before he even considers that he has unfinished business with someone and he calls out R-Truth. He says that he wants Truth in the ring right now and the crowd pops but there is no answer and Morrison is forced to walk off alone.

Match Four: Mason Ryan defeats Kofi Kingston in a good match after the House of Pain to retain his United States Championship and ensure that Kofi is suspended from Raw until after Summerslam.

We go backstage to Scott Stanford who is with R-Truth for an interview. Truth talks about Morrison calling him out earlier and him not responding. He says that Morrison’s not giving him a reason to come out and accept his challenge- he dares The Monday Night Delight to put his briefcase on the line and says that if he does, then he might respond to his challenge.

Main Event: CM Punk defeats Jack Swagger in a long, impressive match after interference from Joseph Mercury and then a GTS. After the match John Cena walks out onto the stage and says that Punk’s reign isn’t going to last long because at Summerslam he will be seeing him in his rematch for the WWE Championship… but this time it will be a last man standing match!
