Re: WWE: A Strong Response
>The Brits Set for War at Night of Champions!<
The problems between The UK Pack & The Empire have increased week on week for the last month or so, and after another chaotic night, Tazz was backed into a corner and gave Wade Barrett & Drew McIntyre a shot at the WWE Tag Team Champions next month at Night of Champions.
Just over two weeks ago, Barrett & McIntyre, along with William Regal crashed the ring to battle it out with Paul Burchill & Harry Smith, resulting in Smith breaking his ankle. They then had the nerve last week to demand The UK Pack be stripped of the titles, but they didn’t bank on Tazz taking Smith’s half of the titles and giving it to his former rookie and long time friend, TJ Wilson to defend until he recovers. Then last night they had the chance to get their hands on each other in actual competition with Burchill taking on Regal and Wilson facing Barrett in the tournament to determine a number one contender for CM Punk’s World Heavyweight Championship at Night of Champions.
Regal scored the first of two controversial victories, using brass knucks to defeat his fellow Englishman before Smith’s return & crutches helped Wilson to victory over Barrett, leaving The Empire’s leader furious. He barged his way into Tazz’s office afterwards after everyone had been barred from ringside for his match, only for Smith’s surprise appearance to cost him a shot at Punk’s world title. Instead they will now meet Burchill & Wilson for the tag titles in the four hour end of the year spectacular. If the past month is anything to go by, it’s going to be an absolute war at Night of Champions when they collide with the gold The Empire want so badly at stake.
>Four More Advance, One Step Closer to Night of Champions!<
William Regal & TJ Wilson weren’t the only ones who advanced to the next round of the number one contender tournament. Joining them, John Cena, J-Red, Elijah Burke & Edge were Alberto Del Rio-Ramirez & Dolph Ziggler.
The World Champion’s former rookie, Del Rio-Ramirez came out on top in a non-title match against the King of the Ring & United States Champion, Matt Sydal in what was almost a carbon copy of the cheap victory he got over him at the Survivor Series when they part of the elimination match between Team Cena & Team Punk. The Mexican’s underhand actions didn’t go down well with Sydal, and he uncharacteristically let the Mexican know how he felt, responding to the smug victor’s taunts by knocking him down with a right hand.
Ziggler meanwhile overcame M.V.P. in what was an impressive victory, arguably his best since arriving on Smackdown earlier this year. After the big win, he addressed the audience and announced that he would be the last man standing in the tournament before becoming the new World Heavyweight Champion at Night of Champions.
Next week the final four first round matches will take place, and the line-up has been confirmed. The matches you will see are as follows:
Once next week is out of the way, there will be 12 superstars left in contention for the opportunity to meet Punk for the world title, and those 12 superstars will then meet in four triple threat matches with those four subsequent winners meeting in a fatal four-way elimination match. Whoever emerges victorious from that contest will be the one to fight for the World Heavyweight Championship at Night of Champions.
