Re: WWE: A Strong Response
>Cena & Punk All Ready for War!<
Last night’s Smackdown started with John Cena unveiling his team that will take on Team Punk at the Survivor Series, however we’ve now learned that CM Punk has added Chris Jericho & Shelton Benjamin to his team that already consists of his rookie, Alberto Del Rio-Ramirez & ‘The Rated-R Superstar’ Edge as well as the World Champion himself.
Punk told WWE.com late last night that he spoke with Benjamin & Jericho after The Gold Standard’s shocking & controversial win over Cena with Jericho playing a big role having spoken of his desire to get even with Cena. The World Champion said that the two men went out and made a statement unlike the many superstars that begged him to be a part of his team for Survivor Series.
It was a mixed night for Team Punk though as Punk himself was on the end of a defeat for the second week in a row, however this time it was in tag team action against Bobby Lashley & Charlie who kept their winning streak going after Haas made Del Rio-Ramirez tap out to the Haas of Pain. The Lashley/Haas combination could well be a very useful asset for Team Cena in two weeks, especially considering Cena’s defeat last night.
Also on the show, Matt Sydal collided with Edge but the contest ended in a disqualification as Christian returned to the arena to attempt to get even with his brother after being attacked by him the week before. With just two weeks to go business really is picking up as far as this huge encounter is concerned.
>Team H.B.K. Is Complete!<
The Miz announced on Raw earlier this week that Dolph Ziggler was the final part of his ‘awesome’ team to take on Shawn Michaels’ team at the Survivor Series, and last week we discovered just who would fill the final spots in Team H.B.K.
After defeating Jack Swagger, a member of Team Miz, Elijah Burke joined The Heartbreak Kid & Kofi Kingston at the top of the stage, and Michaels let the world know that Burke would be joining him & Kofi. We then had the pleasure of welcoming a newcomer to the WWE as well as Team H.B.K. in the shape of Bryan Danielson, who according to Michaels is one of the best in the business today and was trained by his team captain.
It looks like The Miz’s ‘awesome’ team is going to have to live up to its tag if they are going to be able to survive when they collide with Team H.B.K. in 15 short days!
>Tazz Adds Former Champions to Team Smackdown for Battle of the Brands!<
In an interesting development to the Battle of the Brands clash at Survivor Series, we’ve been advised that Smackdown’s General Manager, Tazz has added the former WWE & World Tag Team Champions, Paul London & Brian Kendrick to his show’s team.
They will join Ron Killings and team captain, M.V.P. to battle it out with Team Raw, consisting so far of the Intercontinental Champion, Sheamus, Carlito & John Morrison. Last night we saw London & Kendrick go one-on-one after a brawl that ended up in the back a week ago when London eliminated Kendrick from the battle royal to determine the number one contender for the Cruiserweight Championship. The former friends & partners received a talking to from Tazz and last night they met head-to-head with Kendrick coming out on top in what was a very entertaining & competitive match.
Afterwards London offered his hand to the victor, taking Kendrick completely by surprise, so much so that he shook it. It clearly made an impression on the Smackdown G.M. who has now shown his confidence in them by adding them to Team Smackdown. Will it be a good decision given their recent history or will it pay off?
It’s just two weeks until the huge Survivor Series pay-per-view, and right now here is what you can expect to see in addition to the above matches:
