Re: WWE 2005: Raising the Bar.
Friday Night Smackdown PreviewSmackdown rolls around from Worcester this Friday night fresh from a chaotic night this past Sunday at Judgment Day.
John Cena survived a hellacious Last Man Standing match against JBL to retain the WWE championship. Cena showed the heart, the passion and the will to win of a true champion, proving JBL’s claims he was a ‘fluke’ champion to be completely wrong. This Friday we are sure to find out who will be next in line for a shot at Cena and the WWE title. Will JBL have an argument for another shot or will a new man step forward and stake their claim?
One of those men could well be the Legend Killer, Randy Orton. Orton defeated The Undertaker at Judgment Day thanks to a sneaky chair shot followed by a brutal RKO to the Deadman. With Orton scoring the biggest win of his career to date, will he now head to the front of the queue for a championship match or will Orton and the Phenom have some unfinished business?
Kurt Angle re-signed as a Smackdown superstar last Friday night and competed Sunday at Judgment Day only to be defeated via count out by debutant Bobby Lashley. Angle walked out on the match, stating that he didn’t need to be there and that he deserves the WWE title, not a match with a ‘nobody’. Since defeating Shawn Michaels at Wrestlemania, Angle believes he’s been robbed of a rightful title match. Will he get his wish and be named number one contender or will the Wrestling Machine find another challenge in his way?
As mentioned above, Bobby Lashley made his debut at Judgment Day and the ‘Real Deal’ will make his Smackdown debut this Friday night. Lashley showed real promise in his first outing this past Sunday, showing great speed, strength and power to fend off one of the best in the businees in Kurt Angle. Be sure to check out Lashley’s Smackdown debut this Friday night.
Matt Hardy, Rey Mysterio and Rob Van Dam will all feel they were robbed at Judgment Day. Orlando Jordan rolled Hardy up, grabbing the tights to steal a victory over Hardy, retaining the U.S title in the process whilst MNM won the WWE Tag team titles in dubious circumstances against Van Dam and Mysterio. These eix men and their issues are far from resolved and this Friday night, Smackdown GM Teddy Long has announced that it’ll be the United States champion teaming up with the Tag team champions to take on the trio of Hardy, Mysterio and Van Dam! You won’t want to miss this one!
And finally, Booker T’s losing streak continued on Sunday, being defeated by Carlito but only after an accidental Gore from Rhyno. Rhyno was attacked backstage by Carlito and the Man Beast sought revenge only to cost his friend a victory. You can be sure that the former WCW champion will be wanting answers from Rhyno this Friday night.
Confirmed for this week’s Smackdown:
Orlando Jordan and MNM vs. Matt Hardy, Rey Mysterio and Rob Van Dam
Bobby Lashley will make his Smackdown debut!
